THE AUSSIE BBQ FIRES UP THE ANNANDALE

4/02/2010 2:18:53 PM

For the past eight years Stage Mothers (2 music fans from Melbourne) have been putting on showcases for Australian musicians travelling to the USA who are trying to break beyond the local scene. These shows are called “The Aussie BBQ” and now for the first time they have decided to put on a couple of local shows, one in Melbourne and one in Sydney.

These shows will feature some of the acts travelling to the States for the 2010 Aussie BBQ shows as well as some who have performed in previous years in

Los Angeles, Austin as part of the South by Southwest and New York.

More than 100 acts have played these events in the USA including Powderfinger, Paul and Dan Kelly, The Temper Trap, Beasts Of Bourbon, Ben Lee, Hoodoo Gurus, John Butler Trio, Kisschasy, Little Birdy, Missy Higgins, Sarah Blasko, The Drones, The Grates, The Living End, The Panics, The Vines, You Am I and Yves Klein Blue to name just a few. These events are the biggest showcase of Australian music in the USA.

The Sydney event takes place at the Annandale a proud supporter of Australian music and will feature sets by The Goldhearted, Goons Of Doom, Sherlock’s Daughter, City Riots and some more special guests to be announced very soon.

In keeping with tradition there will also be a free BBQ and giveaways courtesy of Elwood Jeans.

Stage Mothers have been producing these events with their own money and a love of Australian music along with their most consistent and generous supporter Elwood – Australian’s Independent Jeans Company who have helped not only with funding, but freight, custom T shirts and stubby holders which will be available on the night.

Help support some of Australia’s finest music break in the USA.

Proceeds on the night will be going directly to marketing and promoting of the bands travelling to the USA as part of South by Southwest 2010.
